been developing lightweight concrete slabs using void former systems since 1997. This patented technology replaces both solid reinforced concrete slabs and slabs with girders providing solutions for more economical and environmentally friendly buildings.<\/p>\n<p>COBIAX Technology is based on generating specific hollows inside a reinforced concrete slab. A high proportion of the solid slab\u2019s concrete, usually at 60-80% of its surface, is replaced by void formers of 100% recycled plastic. Thus, it is possible to construct slabs of reduced weight and thickness for large spans and cantilevers.<\/p>\n<p>COBIAX slabs have been widely used in building projects throughout Europe, USA and Asia for the past 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>The following are the main advantages of COBIAX slab systems.<\/p>\n<p>1.<strong> Weight reduction and slab thickness reduction<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The weight of a C\u039f\u0392\u0399\u0391\u03a7 slab is reduced by up to 35% compared to the corresponding solid slab and its thickness is about 25% less than a slab with girders (zoellner and sandwich type).<\/p>\n<p>2.<strong> Cost reduction compared to other type of slabs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Structures with COBIAX slabs are more economical compared both to the constructions with solid slabs (cost reduction mainly due to the weight reduction) and to the constructions with slabs with girders (direct reduction to the cost of the slab of about 40 \u20ac\/m<sup>2<\/sup>).<\/p>\n<p>3.<strong> Architectural advantages<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(a): Thinner slabs up to 25% compared to the corresponding slab with girders. This leads to larger clear floor heights.<\/p>\n<p>(b): Larger spans.<\/p>\n<p>(c): Flat slabs.<\/p>\n<p>(d): Due to the reduction of the dead load up to 35%, it is possible to reduce the dimensions of the cross section (even the number) of the columns.
